About the Artist
Patrick has been around art for a majority of his life, mostly creating it. He studied art throughout his school years and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Commercial Design from Appalachian State University.
He earned extra money while in college by doing drawings for friends, organizations and by entering local contests. It was during this time that Patrick started to form his own style as well as earn a greater appreciation for the art. His drawings were not always as detailed and realistic as they are today, they were much different. Hard edges with very distinct and deliberate breaks in color have been replaced by smooth, blending tones and colors you see today.
Patrick's drawings have appeared in books, magazines and on posters and his drawings hang in the homes of many satisfied customers throughout the country.
Before doing a drawing, he will look for features and elements within the subject: shadows, contrasts, positioning, personality, etc. that will allow him to capture and create a unique drawing. "I take what is noticeable and combine it with that which is not. I will see features in each subject I draw that you probably would not notice".
